Missing girl Michaela Hunter was reunited with her mother today after she was found at her high school this morning.
The 13-year-old disappeared from her home 17 days ago but was traced by police outside St John’s High School around 7am, after they received a tip-off from a member of the public.
Although unharmed, she was taken to Ninewells Hospital for a check-up as a precaution.
A Tayside Police spokesman said public help had been crucial in tracing Michaela.
“Michaela Hunter has been traced safe and well in Dundee this morning,” he said.
“A resident called Tayside Police, reporting a sighting of Michaela Hunter in the Glens area of the city. As police were en route, the 13-year-old attended at St John’s High School.
“Officers arrived and, as a precaution, took the girl to Ninewells Hospital, where she was assessed as being fit and well and was quickly released.”
Michaela’s reappearance came just hours before a team of specialist search dogs brought to Dundee from Wales were about to begin searching for her.
The teenager had failed to respond to a series of emotional pleas for her to come home from relatives, including her mother Audrey Reid. For the full story on Michaela’s reappearance, read tomorrow’s Courier.
