Two of Dundee’s recognised collections are among projects to benefit from £450,000 from Museums Galleries Scotland.
The money will go towards new stores for Dundee Art Galleries and Museums and the display of previously unseen objects from the jute collection at Verdant Works.
A total of 12 museums will directly benefit from the awards, and the cash will fund projects that improve the visitor experience to Scotland’s important collections.
Dundee Art Galleries and Museums will receive £40,000 towards the fitting out of new store areas for works on paper and delicate decorative art.
This will ensure greater public access for a collection that has been in temporary accommodation during the recent renovation of The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery and Museum.
The £40,000 will also allow Dundee Heritage Trust to display previously unseen objects from their jute collection at Verdant Works. The funds will also allow them to invest in audio guides for RRS Discovery and Discovery Point.
