Youth charged after fire at former Mains of Claverhouse pub

A 16-year-old has been charged by police after a fire at the Mains of Claverhouse pub.

A police spokesman said the youth was apprehended after a joint investigation with firefighters.

He added, “A 16-year-old male youth has been charged in connection with the incident and inquiries into the full set of circumstances are continuing.”

The pub shut down several years ago. The blaze was reported at 6pm on Monday and fire crews from the Macalpine Road station took around an hour to contain it.

They also returned to check the building was safe.
