Oxford University invitation extended to Dundee pupil after computing challenge success

A Dundee High School pupil’s perfect score in a UK-wide computing challenge has earned him an invitation to Oxford University.
Second year pupil Cosmo Bobak was one of only 15 participants out of more than 27,000 in his age category to get full marks in the Beaver Challenge, an Oxford University-organised problem-solving contest which introduces pupils to computer science.
Cosmo’s result places him in the top 0.055% of pupils across the UK who sat the intermediate test, and has led to him advancing through to the second round which will be held at Oxford next month.
The challenge, which tests computational and logical thinking, ultimately aims to inspire excitement about computing.
More than 56,000 youngsters took part this year, with High School pupils also turning in strong performances in some of the event’s five other categories.
