Dundee FC goalkeeping legend Pat Liney and Dee super fan Graeme Brymer were given a rousing reception at Dens on Saturday when they unfurled a flag which has raised almost £40,000 for the supporters’ society.
More than 1000 Dundee FC fans paid at least £30 to add their names to the flag, which was hoisted for the first time during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Queen of the South.
Graeme (47) runs the supporters’ site Dundee Mad and said he was delighted with the response he received to his fund-raising idea, which added £38,600 to the society’s coffers.
He was given a round of applause by the crowd as he was joined by Pat, who was in goal during the club’s 1961/62 league-winning season.
The flag has been attached to poles at the south side of the ground and miniature versions are going to be sold through the club shop.
