Dundee was showcased to a million people around the globe as part of a social media event at the weekend.
An Insta-meet brought together 60 Instagram users from across Scotland who walked the city streets on Saturday in order to capture images of iconic landmarks. With a combined total of a million followers in various countries, the social media enthusiasts were able to show the world what the “coolest little city in Britain” looks like.
There were also talks with Dundee personalities at the forefront of the city’s new industries, such as designer Hayley Scanlan, computer games entrepreneur Chris Van Der Kuyl and artist Ellis O’Connor at Verdant Works.
Ian Black, one of the event’s organisers, said: “Instagram is now the second biggest social media platform and in Scotland there’s an informal community of Instagrammers who share content.
“The idea of this meet is to bring many of them together and to show off what Dundee has to offer.
“I’ve been in the city for 20 years and have seen it described as the “coolest little city in Britain” in a magazine.

“The Instagrammers are all different and the images they share range from lifestyle, to rural to urban scenes and artwork.
“Their images of Dundee would be able to reach around a million people.”
One of the visitors was Berries Stoddart, 34, an HR manager from Larbert who was particularly impressed with the McManus gallery and museum.
She said: “I’ve been to Dundee before but I’ve never really had the chance to explore and gain a proper insight of the city.
“I loved the Verdant Works and I think the McManus is an absolutely beautiful building.
“This trip has really opened my eyes about what’s on offer here.”
Similar Insta-meets have already been held in Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Scottish Borders.
The event partners included VisitScotland, V&A Dundee, Dundee City Council, Verdant Works, Discovery Point, Dundee Contemporary Arts, the McManus galleries and the Malmaison.
