Road at City Quay to close during Commonwealth Games athletes’ stay
ByThe Courier Reporter
A road at City Quay road will be closed while Commonwealth Games athletes stay at the Apex Hotel.
City Quay will host hundreds of athletes and trainers while they compete at the skeet shooting event at Barry Buddon.
However, that will mean almost three weeks of road closures for City Quay residents, who will be stopped from driving along West Victoria Dock Road from this Saturday.
Traffic will have to enter City Quay through South Victoria Dock Road.
Councillor Ken Lynn, whose Maryfield ward covers City Quay, said he hoped residents would see the wider benefit of the games.
He said: “I would imagine it is for security reasons. I hope people who live there will understand the reasons behind it.”
