Asda cannot make overnight deliveries to Milton of Craigie
ByAndrew Argo
Asda has lost its bid to have overnight deliveries at its Milton of Craigie store.
The supermarket giant appealed to the Scottish Government to overturn Dundee City Council’s refusal of the company’s planning application to allow deliveries between 10pm and 7am.
Councillors rejected the proposal after hearing the noise could wake up nearby residents.
It was believed a noise impact assessment carried out for Asda may have underestimated the noise from vehicles and equipment.
Scottish Government reporter David Buylla concluded the benefits of the proposal to the efficient operation of the store did not outweigh the risk of sleep disturbance to residents.
He did not think adequate noise mitigation measures would be possible and he dismissed the appeal.
