Prosecutors may seek review of Dundee domestic abuser’s sentence

Prosecutors are to “review” the sentence handed down to serial domestic abuser Frank DeGernier.
He was jailed for four years and two months on Monday after he admitted a string of offences against ex-girlfriends in Dundee.
But now the Crown Office could mount an appeal after they said they were to “review” the jail term.
A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) said: “The Crown will give careful consideration as to whether the sentence was unduly lenient.”
Andrew McIntyre, procurator fiscal for sheriff and jury cases in the north of Scotland, added: “Frank DeGernier pled guilty to a string of very serious violent offences stretching back more than 10 years.
“COPFS hopes victims of such appalling crimes will feel able to come forward and report them, whenever they were committed.
“Our expert prosecutors will treat victims of crime with professionalism and sensitivity, and we will do everything in our power to deliver justice.”
Dundee Sheriff Court heard how DeGernier launched horrifically violent attacks on his girlfriends over a period of more than 10 years at addresses in Dundee.
