A man and a woman have been accused of choking a man unconscious in his Dundee home and stealing his medicine.
Leanne Gunning and Brian Cooney appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with carrying out the assault and theft.
It is alleged that Gunning, 29, of Dallfield Court, Dundee, and Cooney, 36, of Findhorn Place, Dundee, punched their victim on the head before placing him in a headlock and cutting off his air until he lost consciousness.
They stand accused of rummaging through his pockets before threatening to stab him and stealing his medication.
The pair were charged with committing the offence on October 27 at an address in the city’s Hilltown Terrace.
It is alleged Gunning and Cooney assaulted the man by running at him and attempting to seize medication from him.
They then repeatedly punched him on the head, placed him in a headlock, whereby his breathing was restricted and he lost consciousness.
Gunning and Cooney searched through his pockets, brandished a knife at him and threatened to stab him, all to his injury, before robbing him of a quantity of medication.
Gunning is alleged to have committed the offence while on bail, having been granted bail on September 4.
Cooney also faces a charge that, on October 27, at police headquarters, West Bell Street, Dundee, he was concerned in the supply of diamorphine (heroin).
Both accused made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
Cooney was remanded in custody while Gunning was released on bail.
