Travellers camping at Dundee Technology Park were served with a notice to quit today.

Seven caravans and three vans are parked out at the site while the official council accommodation at Balmuir Wood yet again remains empty.

Large amounts of rubbish and some apparent stripping of a water control box was evident at the site the disused ClientLogic building on Luna Drive.

The notice allows the private landowner to remove the Travellers and their possessions from the site, but the occupants indicated their desire to stay as long as possible.

When approached for comment the group did not wish to speak, but confirmed they were the same people who had camped out at Jack Martin Way and Dunsinane Avenue earlier this year.

At that time they claimed locals were menacing them, and flytippers were using them as scapegoats.

Councillor Fraser Macpherson, whose West End ward includes the technology park, said: “I am anxious to now see a swift resolution of the matter.

“I have had a number of constituent concerns that the situation at the Technology Park.

“Clearly, owners taking steps to secure sites from such occupations would help prevent further instances.

“Owners should prevent entry that’s the main thing. Some of the security at these sites is poor and that allows for illegal encampments like this one.”
