Church bells in Dundee city centre did not ap-peal to one person who complained to police they were too loud, a new report has revealed.
Street buskers and bands also featured in the 824 noise complaints made to officers over the last three months across the city.
Dundee’s High Street drew six complaints about noisy street entertainers between August and October, with another person ringing police about the church bells.
Alastair ‘Breeks’ Brodie, owner of Groucho’s record shop in Nethergate, branded the complainers “killjoys”.
He said: “Some of the buskers I’ve seen over the last six months have been exceptional. I would buy their record, as Simon Cowell would say.
“The trad jazz combo and the South American group are particularly good. They add a bit of colour and vibrancy.
“There’s not much in the way of private housing in the city centre so it’s not going to disturb too many people.
“Maybe it’s people who don’t like music and don’t like life.”
Noise complaints figures were presented for the first time this month to local community planning partnerships as police continue their high-profile crackdown on anti-social behaviour.
The vast majority of incidents took place at the weekend and concerned parties or loud music.
More than a quarter of the complaints (207) came from the Lochee area, with one property in Adamson Court being reported to police 11 times.
The Coldside ward recorded 163 complaints, with the Kinghorne Road area and the multi-storeys at the bottom of the Hilltown the most complained about sites.
There were 153 complaints in the west end over the three-month period, with 16 complaints in Perth Road and 11 in Blackness Road.
