Dundee charity champ Charlie Kean is set to break all his previous bests for helping disadvantaged locals this Christmas.
The Good Samaritan and his army of supporters look set to distribute presents, food and help to as many as 2,000 needy Dundonians.
Charlie was named Dundee Citizen of the Year in 2013 for his work with Kean’s Children’s Fund. He uses Facebook to spread the word and get people helping.
Throughout the year his bus helps disadvantaged children and families, but around Christmas time his charity really goes into overdrive.
He said: “Last year we had 862 households identified as needing help. This year we have at least 1,761.
“There were eight drop-off points last year. This year we have 26 from the High School to the student hub, and people are giving independently too.”
Charlie’s efforts are being supported by a wide range of local businesses, and he added: “All these toys will be given out to needy children in Dundee, from the people of Dundee.”
In Friday’s Courier, read more on Charlie’s charity efforts and how you can help.
