Joy for bus users as ‘lifeline’ Mill o’ Mains service is saved
ByThe Courier Reporter
The “lifeline” Mill o’ Mains No 36 bus service has been saved.
The contract for the service was awarded to Stagecoach Strathtay and the replacement service will operate under contract from January 12 2015 until August 13 2016.
City development convener Will Dawson said: “This is great news for residents who have been campaigning to keep the service running.”
Campaigner Jim Malone said: “I have set up a meeting with Will Dawson to discuss what sort of service will be coming with the new contract.
“When the tenders were announced, they didn’t include the early morning service. Obviously we’re delighted but we’ll wait to see what sort of service we’ll get before we get too elated.”
Council officers will seek views from the community over the next 12 months to help form decisions about the future needs of bus users.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach Strathtay said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded the contract to operate service 36 by Dundee City Council from early January and look forward to operating this new route for our network.
