A woman who has been repeatedly convicted of assault and robbery was told she can expect a lengthy sentence after biting and headbutting a woman in Dundee.
Jade Laing, 32, a prisoner in Ratho House, Edinburgh, admitted assaulting the woman by seizing her by the body, butting her on the head and body and biting her on the body, all to her injury, then robbing her of her mobile phone.
The court heard how the complainer and a friend went into town to visit the Tayside Drugs Problem Service and saw the accused standing outside.
Laing approached and asked if she could go into the alley and speak to her. When she refused, Laing took hold of her and walked her there.
She then took hold of the complainer and butted her on the head and bit her on the body and on the right upper arm.
She went through her victim’s pockets and stole her mobile phone.
Laing is already serving 29 months for a similar offence and her earliest release date would have been September.
Deferring sentence for a psychological report, Sheriff Lorna Drummond said she could expect another lengthy sentence.
She added: “You have pled guilty to assault and robbery. This is a serious matter as you know yourself, having received a custodial sentence for this in the past. You are going to be facing a significant period of custody for that.”
Defence solicitor Anne Duffy said Laing had a number of issues, including the death of her child in prison in 2011.
She also said she Laing was stuck in a cycle of offending and would benefit from a supervised release order when she eventually is released.
Sheriff Drummond said this was something that would be looked into closer to Laing’s release.
