Traffic cops in Dundee pulled over a man in the early hours of New Year’s morning because he was bouncing through a busy Dundee underpass on a space hopper.
The incident, on the Marketgait underpass, occurred around 3am on Thursday.
There are no pavements for pedestrians in the underpass and so the inebriated man was bouncing down the middle of the road.
Witness Jamie Shankland was driving into town to collect a friend from Liquid nightclub when he saw officers stop the man.
He posted on Facebook: “Only in Dundee would you see someone getting stopped by the police on a space hopper… Going through the tunnel in town!!! Class!”
“It was one of the funniest things I’ve seen,” Jamie told The Courier.
“I was driving through town to pick up a friend from Liquid and the police had blocked off one lane of the underpass.
“They had the man up against the wall and I saw what I thought was a giant balloon on the road but it turned out it was a space hopper.
“He’d apparently been bouncing down through the underpass and got stopped by police.
“The look on his face was great – it looked like he knew he’d been caught but wasn’t sure what for.”
Jamie added the man appeared the worse for wear from drink but it was not clear how he had acquired the space hopper.
Police Scotland has said the man was not charged for the incident.
Officers in Brechin also confiscated a quad bike in Brechin last night because it was being driven on the road.
