Call for greater police presence in Broughty Ferry after Nisa shop raid
ByGraham Gibson
A traders group has called for a greater police presence after a Broughty Ferry convenience store was held up by an armed robber.
As we reported, police “locked down” the area for three hours after the weekend incident which saw a knife-wielding robber hold up the Nisa store before making off with money, cigarettes and alcohol.
The balaclava-clad man presented a knife at a female member of staff at about 9.30pm on Saturday.
Broughty Ferry Traders’ Association committee member Geraldine Stewart said: “It’s really very alarming that something like this has happened in this area.
“In light of this, I definitely think we could do with a stronger police presence in Broughty Ferry as I think it would help to deter anything like this happening in the future.”
The man is described as being about 5ft 10in, of thin build and possibly speaking in an Irish accent.
As well as a balaclava he was wearing a brown zipped jacket, blue jeans and black trainers. He was also carrying a black holdall.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
