Taxi fares in Dundee are to be frozen for the first time in a decade.
Licensing chiefs and drivers are set to agree to keep prices as they are until the annual review next January.
Following this year’s review, taxi fares in the city could have risen by 2p per journey.
Graeme Stephen, chairman of the Dundee Taxi Association, says customers are benefiting from a recent drop in fuel prices and believes the freeze will be a welcome boost for the public.
He said: “After the new fare was worked out it was decided the increase was too small to register and it wasn’t worth the effort raising the fare machines by such a small margin.
“It would have cost more than two pence for each driver to change their fare machines.
“I would also say this is the first time the fare hasn’t increased in about 10 years or more and it’s mainly due to the fall in oil prices we have seen in recent weeks.”
