Building work on a housing development at Dundee’s waterfront could begin this summer.
Planning permission for up to 100 homes at City Quay could get the go-ahead from the city council.
The proposals, by Unicorn Property Group, would mean the last gap site, currently a car park, will be filled in time for the arrival of key waterfront attractions like the V&A Museum in 2017.
Tim Allen, chief executive of Unicorn Property Group, said: “We have given notification that we are going to submit a planning application for the last remaining residential site at City Quay.
“We are going to submit a planning application in the first half of this year, for work to being in the second half.
“We intend to build around 88 to 100 flats, to be finished by the summer of 2016.
“But everything will depend on the outcome of the planning application and the public consultation.
“We would hope to have permission by June or July and to commence building on-site soon after.”
Unicorn is also planning to use permission it gained several years ago to build 82 student flats off Hawkhill, next to the Wellcome Trust building.
These plans are on hold while the company pushes ahead with its plans for City Quay.
Mr Allan said: “We are focusing on the waterfront at the moment, that is our most immediate priority.
“The V&A is due to be constructed and opened in 2017 and we want to make sure these flats are ready for people who want to live close to that development.”
Unicorn’s housing plans are part of the wider £1 billion regeneration of the waterfront area which includes a number of other housing developments.
At the central waterfront, where the V&A will be based among new offices, shops and restaurants, up to 200 new flats are also planned.
Earlier this week city bosses announced provisional names for the streets along the new layout, and put the names of the two large public spaces at the waterfront up for public nomination.
