Labour MP calls on Alex Salmond to apologise to Dundee

A Labour MP has called for Alex Salmond to apologise to the people of Dundee for breaking his promise on renewable energy jobs.
Margaret Curran, shadow secretary for Scotland, visited the Claverhouse group in the city on Thursday to highlight Scottish Labour’s calls for immediate devolution of job-creating powers under the Smith Commission.
Earlier she claimed Dundee had been failed by the Work Programme, with only 15% of participants going on to find a job.
She said: “Every time I’m in Dundee people have raised their disappointment with the former First Minister over his promise.
“Renewable energy is a sector Dundee badly needs and the city has been let down badly by his retreat from promise.”
“I think Alex Salmond should apologise to the people of Dundee.”
Her visit comes a week before the shadow cabinet meets in the city.
She said: “It’s interesting, there’s plenty we can learn from the people of Dundee.”
