Travellers have set up camp in the middle of a roundabout on the Claverhouse Industrial Estate in Dundee.
The illegal encampment of seven caravans is parked at the top of Charles Bowman Avenue.
Some heavy vehicles from the industrial site were spotted struggling to turn on the roundabout, commonly used as a turning point for large vehicles, while squeezing through the middle of the camp.
The councillor for the area, Brian Gordon, said he was concerned for the residents of nearby William Fitzgerald Way, whose lives were regularly affected by illegal Traveller camps.
He said: “It will be an annoyance and nuisance to people in William Fitzgerald Way and I feel sorry for the residents who have to deal with this periodically.
“I got a lot of complaints from residents the last time they were here. It looks like these are probably the same group who were camped in Whitfield, as I can recognise some of the caravans.”
He said that although the roundabout is a turning point for lorries, larger vehicles might have to turn somewhere else while the Travellers are on the roundabout.
He added: “I would encourage the authorities to speed up the process of moving them on. They were there two years ago and when they left they only moved to the other side of the Forfar Road.
“There does need to be a change in the legislation because it costs a lot of money to get them moved on and often private landlords don’t bother because of the court fees.”
A spokesman for Dundee City Council said: “The council can and does use the civil legal remedy of obtaining a court order for recovery of possession of land from Travellers when they illegally occupy council-owned land.
“We are currently assessing the situation at Charles Bowman Avenue and will take appropriate action if necessary.”
Dundee City Council provides a purpose-built caravan park for use by gypsies/travelling people.
It is located at Balmuir Wood, Tealing, about six miles from Dundee, just off the A90 towards Forfar.
The site has 20 individual pitches each with its own utility unit, a hook-up facility for electricity and hardstanding for parking caravans and motor vehicles.
The Charles Bowman Avenue area has become a popular choice for Travellers, with numerous camps being set up there in recent years most recently last February.
Some roads in the area have boulders in place in a bid to block access.
