TV presenter Lorraine Kelly hopes to star as a “baddie” in Dundee University’s student internet soap opera.
She has been lined up to join the cast of the shoestring budget series Skint.
Episodes are available to view online and have attracted more than 50,000 viewers since being launched in February.
Hollywood star and Dundee University rector Brian Cox has already filmed a segment for the next episode, playing a rogue scientist.
Former rector Lorraine has agreed to join in the fun but only if she can shed her normal, wholesome image.
She said, “I’m delighted to have been asked to take part in Skint and to have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the legend that is Brian Cox.
“I’m really looking forward to chewing up the scenery as a real baddie.”
Skint creator Jordan Dunbar said, “We’re currently speaking to several other big name stars who are keen to appear in Skint, but I can’t say too much until it’s confirmed.
“It’s a really exciting project to be involved in and it is getting bigger all the time, with colleges and universities from across Scotland getting involved in making the third episode this autumn.
“I’ve had emails from people across Britain and even Europe asking how they can get involved. Skint has really caught people’s imaginations, which is fantastic as we did it with little or no funding and built it up from nothing.”
The crew is to hold an open audition for any budding actors and behind-the-camera talent who want to take part.
This will be held at the students’ association in Airlie Place at 1pm on Saturday.
The aim is for Skint to become a showcase for media talent from across Scotland.
Jordan said, “We need costumes, music, posters, publicity and event management as well as actors, so we are hoping to get as many young people involved as possible and use Skint as a way to harness all these skills.”
