Royal Mail claims a trouble-free Christmas service in Dundee

Royal Mail says postal services in Dundee have operated without problem over the festive period.

The company said the local network has operated smoothly at its busiest time of the year, just twelve months after a huge backlog of problems were reported at depots in the city.

A spokesman said: ”There have not been any issues in Dundee this Christmas or in the network at all.”

There have, however, been rumours that the volume of mail being dealt with in the city has dropped dramatically this year, although official figures will not be available until early next year.

At one point last winter, some 120,000 items of mail were held up.
