A new 17.5m phone mast is to be erected in Lochee’s Liff Road after councillors unanimously approved a joint application by Vodafone/Telefonica to provide G3 mobile phone coverage.
The mast, which was recommended for approval by development management director Mike Galloway, is to be situated on land next to Lochee United FC’s Thomson Park.
It will be erected among an existing shroud of trees at what is an alternative site, after a previous successful application for an identical monopole in November which would have been located two metres east of the site was found to be on top of a gas main.
The main was discovered during initial site investigations.
Only one objection was received from a member of the public.
Mr Galloway’s report revealed that 10 other sites were considered but were deemed to be unsuitable.
