Stewart Hosie brushes off criticism for Yes Dundee event appearance with Tommy Sheridan

The new SNP deputy leader has brushed off criticism for appearing at the same Dundee event as disgraced politician Tommy Sheridan.
Dundee East MP Stewart Hosie and former MSP Mr Sheridan, who was jailed for perjury in 2011, were both guest speakers at the Dundee Yes City gathering at Fat Sam’s on Sunday.
An un-named senior SNP source told the Sunday Herald that Mr Hosie’s appearance at the event was “totally unnecessary” but the MP told The Courier: “This is an anti-poverty, anti-hunger fundraiser. It is organised locally and is an important thing to support.”
The two men did not share a platform as Mr Sheridan had left before Mr Hosie arrived. The day-long event was preceded by a pipe band procession from Albert Square.
Money raised on the day will help foodbanks in the city.
