A savage fire that ripped through a Dundee city centre shop will leave Christmas traders massively out of pocket.
Both Murraygate and Seagate had to be closed following the huge blaze at the seasonal Xmas Shop which broke out at 12.10pm on Sunday.
Customers inside the ground-floor store fled into the bustling street as flames and an enormous plume of smoke engulfed the area.
More than 50 firefighters quickly descended on the building between Burton and HSBC which was completely gutted and suffered a collapsed roof.
Staff from adjacent shops were evacuated as a precaution.
Across Dundee smoke could be seen billowing out of the store and over East Dock Street and City Quay.
Streets throughout the city centre stank of smoke and shoppers were coughing and spluttering and covering their mouths.
Three cranes were brought in as firefighters tackled the flames from height using nine hosereel jets.
Police, utilities employees and ambulance workers also attended the scene. As the light faded the fire subsided and the clean-up began.
Crews returned to the building on Monday morning to investigate the cause of the blaze and continue dampening down.
