New Year will see the return of a pop-up shop that showcases the work of artists and designers.
Dundee’s creative talent was on display to the public in festive pop-up shops in the city centre in the run up to Christmas.
The experiment was so successful that the Reform Street shop will now host a fundraising pop-up for students at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design’s degree show at the end of this month.
Time Lifestyle Boutique is run by Nicola Donnelly, who said: “It has been really positive and pleased with how it has gone.
“I definitely will continue this year and at the end of January I have Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design students doing a pop-up shop to fundraise for their degree show.”
She said it was an opportunity for artists to get themselves noticed and a chance for the public to experience something new.
She said: “I opened my shop back in August but this is the first time I have done a pop-up shop on this scale.
“When I was doing research I got comments that people wanted to buy things that were made locally and support designers from the local area but they didn’t know how to do it.
“It gives the artists an opportunity to sell to a different audience and helps expose their work.
“We still need to make people aware of the concept of pop-up shops but some of the events were brilliantly attended.
“Some of the designers had really good sales and all increased their exposure.”
The shop hosted 14 different creatives who do not have shops themselves, including fine artist Lindsay Mylet, who is an undergraduate at Duncan of Jordanstone.
Nicola said: “For her it was a chance to exhibit and price her work, which was a valuable experience.
“I am actually going to keep some of her prints to sell in the shop.”
