Child dies in ambulance en route to Ninewells Hospital

A 19-month-old child died in an ambulance at a Dundee lay-by.
The child was being taken to Ninewells Hospital for emergency medical attention when tragedy struck.
Police confirmed they were called to a lay-by on Arbroath Road at 1.26pm on Wednesday to assist paramedics.
It was later confirmed the infant did not survive.
Eyewitnesses said four police vehicles and an ambulance were at the scene.
The cause of death is not yet known.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland attended Arbroath Road, Dundee, yesterday afternoon to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service, following the sudden death of a 19-month-old child, who had been en route to Ninewells Hospital for emergency medical attention.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
