A man took diazepam after his uncle’s funeral then went on a shoplifting spree as though he was “invisible,” Dundee Sheriff Court heard.
Shane McVicar, 27, of Court Street, admitted stealing four power drills from B&Q, Kings Cross Road, on January 15 and then stealing household goods from The Range in Stack Leisure Park on the same day.
Depute fiscal Kirsten Johnson told the court staff at B&Q watched as McVicar wheeled a trolley laden with power tools past a checkout without paying and towards the entrance. He was asked if he had a receipt and gave no answer, walking away.
Police were called and later the same day they traced McVicar at the roundabout near the Stack Leisure Park, the fiscal said.
The value of the power tools was put at £592 and the household goods £281.95.
Sheriff Drummond deferred sentence for reports until February 11 and granted him bail.
