Dundee United have revealed that more than 2,500 people of all ages turned out to enjoy the club’s family day at the weekend.
The doors of Tannadice were thrown open for supporters to enjoy the free event along with their favourite players on Sunday afternoon.
Activities on offer are different every year and one of this year’s highlights was the chance to imitate a Dundee United star player in the Nadir Ciftci Challenge.
Ten youngsters got the chance to try and replicate Ciftci’s run at an open goal against Rangers, while club legend Hamish McAlpine recreated the keeper’s blunder.
Nadir Ciftci judged the efforts of his young protgs.
Tom Cairns, chairman of the organising committee, said: “We were extremely proud and lucky enough to have our armed forces not only displaying an armed Land Rover but also the Commando Challenge involving many fans, which proved extremely popular, as did the zorbs football challenge with the football club’s management taking part.
“Police Scotland also supported our event with a stall display which was great fun.”
He continued: “Our committee of volunteers spend months working alongside Gordon Grady, the DUFC community manager, in organising a varied and enjoyable day for the several thousands of Arabs, young and old, and it was a fabulous day.”
The event was free to enter and the money raised goes towards youth development at the club.
