Police probing the circulation of blue pills that have hospitalised several people in Dundee this week have charged a man and a woman.
Officers and health partners issued a warning over the pills after a number of people became ill after purchasing what they believed to be diazepam.
A police spokeswoman said: “In response to concerns regarding the circulation of blue tablets in the Dundee area, Police Scotland can confirm that a 33-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman have been charged in connection with controlled drugs offences. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. They are expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, August 11.
“Police Scotland continue to warn of the dangers of buying any medication or substances on the street, as the contents are unknown and there is potential for serious health implications.
“Officers in Tayside are committed to taking illegal drugs out of communities and anyone with information regarding suspicious activity in their area is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
