A prestigious Broughty Ferry site has been put on the market for a residential development.
Anton House, a 19th century mansion with extension in more than two acres of grounds at Forthill, is being sold by the charity Capability Scotland.
They have operated the house and associated Ogilvie Centre as a day care centre for adults with various needs but problems with wheelchair access means it is no longer fit for purpose.
Estate agents Rettie & Co say the site, in tree-lined grounds with views across the Tay to Fife, has the potential for conversion of the mansion and new building.
Provisional plans giving an example of development possibilities show Anton House divided into two semi-detached houses, flats to the rear and six houses in the grounds. The design would have to comply with the site’s conservation zone status.
Charlie McMillan, the charity’s director of services and development, said: “The premises have served us well in the past but we are now reaching the point where the building is no longer fit for purpose.
“We are seeking new accessible premises within Dundee which will better meet the needs of our current and future customers. Our top priority while we look for a new base is our customers.
“Everyone who uses the service along with their families and carers have been fully consulted on the sale and we will continue to work closely with them as we consider together our requirements for our future premises.”
Locating services in another part of the city Dundee will open up lots of new opportunities for customers, he added.
