A drunk lorry driver who caused a massive tailback when his trailer flipped on the Kingsway has been jailed.
Darren Moorhouse downed half a litre of vodka while the 44-tonne vehicle was being loaded before his drive at Peterhead.
The 40-year-old was taking 23 tonnes of peat to England when he crashed his lorry while trying to go round the Myrekirk roundabout on April 24.
Moorhouse tipped the trailer and crashed into the central reservation of the Kingsway after coming through the roundabout during the evening rush hour.
The driver was taken to police headquarters in the city where officers found he was three times the legal limit for operating the HGV.
Moorhouse, of Burnley Road, Burnley, admitted driving under the influence, driving and at excessive speed and losing control of his vehicle at Dundee Sheriff Court.
He has been jailed for a year and banned from driving for three years.
