A convicted Dundee paedophile who is banned from unsupervised use of the internet admitted browsing websites on a mobile phone at his home, a court heard today.
David McAusland is awaiting sentence after being found with thousands of child abuse and bestiality images at his South Road home.
The former children’s karate and kickboxing teacher is only allowed to access the internet under supervision and only then to look at job applications.
But the 49-year-old appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court to admit using a mobile phone to access the internet.
Kevin Hampton, defending, said his client had only been looking at legal sites, adding: “But he shouldn’t have been doing that at all.
“His remark to the police was: “I’m sorry, I was stupid” and I can only agree with that.”
McAusland was bailed at a previous court appearance after admitting possessing a total of 2,736 images and 39 videos, which were found after police raided his flat last September.
McAusland, South Road, admitted breaching a bail condition by accessing the internet on a mobile phone at his home on August 21.
Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC told him: “I will grant you bail but on the basis you comply with the conditions.”
Sentence was deferred on the breach until August 29, when McAusland will also be sentenced for the possession of indecent images offences.
