Dundee bakery owner Alan Clark is one of 200 entrepreneurs in Scotland who have signed a letter backing independence.
The 67-year-old who founded Clark’s Bakery in Annfield Row in 1971, said: “I have been an SNP supporter since I was a teenager and this is nothing to do with issues about money, it is something from the heart.
“I am not anti-English but I am against the Westminster system and the establishment that surrounds it.
“This is basically because of the way my father Earl was treated when he served with the Norfolk Regiment during the Second Word War.
“He came across a superior, condescending attitude towards him because he was Scottish by the English soldiers he served with, especially officers.
“That made a lifelong impression on him.”
Other signatories to the letter with Courier Country connections include Sir Brian Souter, chairman of Stagecoach; Tony Banks, chairman of Balhousie Care; Sandy Adam, chairman of Dundee western gateway proposed developers Springfield Properties, and Stephen Mulhearn, owner of Lendrick Lodge, the holistic retreat and spiritual centre in Callander.
