A man involved in a road traffic accident had been given a life ban from driving 11 years earlier.
James Alexander Wilton, of Abernethy Road, Broughty Ferry, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court accused of motoring offences in Arbroath on May 3 this year.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said the accused was banned for life at Dundee Sheriff Court on August 13 2003.
She said: “On May 3, on the Westway in Arbroath, the accused was involved in a road traffic accident involving a car and the motorcycle he was on.
“Traffic police officers attended and made inquiries and found he had no licence.
“He did sustain injuries as a result of the accident and was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where he was later cautioned and charged.”
The 38-year-old admitted driving on the Westway without a licence, while a not guilty plea to driving without insurance was accepted by the Crown.
Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence for criminal justice social work reports and Wilton was ordered to appear.
The crash happened at the junction of Westway and Hospitalfield Road at 2.50pm.
