A pair of plane crazy Angus youngsters are set to live out their sky high dreams at Dundee Airport.
Monifieth next door neighbours Matthew Walsh, 7, and Ben Huntingford, 8, came up with a summer holiday scheme to construct their own plane over the summer and had bugged their parents to let them write to Dundee Airport to ask for instructions.
Airport officials told the boys they unfortunately didn’t have ‘build-your-own’ plans to pass on, but have thrilled the youngsters with an invitation to go behind the scenes of the Riverside operation on September 28.
Matthew’s mum, Susie, said she initially thought the letter was a good idea as it would help the Seaview Primary youngsters to practise their writing skills.
“At no point in their minds did they think that they wouldn’t be able to build this plane. “They were completely convinced that if they wrote a letter they would be able to build it out of things that you find around the house it was kind of funny.
“The two boys are inseparable, and all summer they’re been building things and coming up with ideas, like little boys do,” she added.
Carl Roulston, who replied to Matthew and Ben, said: “It’ll be really good to have the boys here, I’ve been talking to their mum and they’re clearly looking forward to it, so it will be a good day.”
