Charity cyclists riding high on Tour de France route

A rookie cyclist has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by completing one of the world’s most daunting mountain climbs.
Mark Walsh, 45, from Monifieth, pedalled to the top of the Col du Galibier, which is a route often used in the Tour de France.
He was part of a 25-man team brought to the charity event by Tayside company Cyberonics and the group raised more than £800 for Epilepsy Scotland.
However, they are still hoping to hit their £1,000 target. Mark said people had been negative about his chances of completing the course in the French Alps so he was particularly proud of his efforts.
He also praised fellow rookie Cathy Padmore who rode alongside him.
“Cathy and I conquered the fabled beast Col du Galibier on Saturday with our colleagues from across Europe,” he said.
“It was a fantastic experience if not slightly painful on the way. The views at the top were inspiring. We have, to date, raised over £800 toward our target of £1,000.”
