A Dundee club has taken part in an attempt to break the record for the world’s largest sailing race.
The Royal Tay Yacht Club took part in the inaugural Bart’s Bash, with 28 boats undertaking the 1km race.
It was one of hundreds of clubs worldwide that entered the race, which aimed to join the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest-ever sailing race.
The competition was launched on behalf of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.
Mr Simpson often known as Bart was a British Olympic medal winner and sailor who died following an accident while training for the America’s Cup. He was just 36.
Following his death last year, the foundation was created to inspire the next generation of young people through sailing in the UK and around the world.
Other countries taking part in the competition include Antigua, Spain, China and the United States.
Conditions were difficult for those taking part due to the variable breeze but all finished safely and about £250 was raised for the foundation.
