Dozens of Dundee bus routes will be diverted on Friday forcing commuters to battle big buses on already clogged streets.
The road outside of the Seagate Bus Station in the city centre, between Trades Lane and Commercial Street, will be closed to all traffic for resurfacing for a week.
Councillor Brian Gordon has slammed the changes to road layouts resulting from the closure, as he expects them to lead to buses being diverted towards the East Port Roundabout
The changes mean the flow of traffic from the A991 is likely to be affected.
He said: “I can’t see a situation where this won’t cause a big disruption. They should think carefully about what will make a suitable alternative.”
The bus station is used by services from the Stagecoach Group which includes Stagecoach, Megabus and City Link services plus National Express buses.
Both recommended the people using their services check bus times and new stops ahead of making their journey.
A spokeswoman for National Express said: “The closure of the Seagate affects a number of our services and we have worked closely with Dundee City Council to minimise disruption to our passengers.”
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach added: “There is diversion information on affected services on our website and on Twitter and details of revised stopping arrangements are also posted on local bus stops.”
