Pupils at Dundee High School are being reminded of security procedures following the theft of two iPads from the school grounds.
A pair of thieves made off with the two devices from children’s schoolbags that were left on school grounds, outside the main building.
The thieves were seen entering the school grounds by a tradesman working at the school and the devices were later recovered by police and returned to their owners.
However, the theft has led to pupils being reminded of how and where to safely store their personal belongings in school.
High School rector Dr John Halliday, said: “Our pupils have lockers and designated areas in which they can safely leave their property and they have been reminded of this in the light of this incident.
“I’m very grateful for the vigilance that our pupils and staff showed in this case, which helped to ensure the return of the stolen items.”
He also sought to reassure parents and pupils that incidents, like the one which took place on August 22, are “extremely rare” at the school.
He said: “As a school we take security extremely seriously and we have clear policies and robust procedures in place which are constantly reviewed to safeguard our pupils and their property.”
