Motorists warned of delays on Tay Road Bridge

Work on the road surface of the Tay Road Bridge will take place from Friday.
Work on the road surface of the Tay Road Bridge will take place from Friday.

Road works on the Tay Bridge will begin this weekend and preparation works will take place in the early hours of Friday morning.

Resurfacing will take place over the next three weekends, beginning at 7.30pm on Friday.

The works have been scheduled to take place outside peak hours to minimise disruption, with a contraflow system operating over the affected weekends.

From 1 to 6am on Friday marker posts will be installed between lanes on the northbound carriageway to prepare for the contraflow system.

Dundee City Council is warning motorists travelling from Fife to Dundee during this time to expect some delays.

Wide loads will not be able to cross the bridge from 1am on Friday, and cyclists are being reminded to use the walkway.

Work to remove the marker posts will begin at 1am on Monday, meaning similar restrictions.

From 1am on October 17 marker posts will be installed on the southbound carriageway ahead of the next phase of the programme.

Full details of the carriageway repair work schedule are available on the council website at www.dundeecity.gov.uk.
