Two major developments that will provide up to 100 homes in Dundee have been given the green light.
Developments in the West End and Maryfield have been approved by Dundee City Council.
Persimmon Homes will build 59 houses and associated roads and other infrastructure at the site of the former Dundee College on Melrose Terrace.
A mixture of 19 detached, 16 semi-detached and two terraced houses between two and four bedrooms will be built along with off-street parking or garages and at least 50 square metres of private garden.
One representation was received from the owners of the former janitor’s house, now in private ownership, who support the principle of the development but sought information and reassurance about the use of the land at the south of their property which provides the route for the sewer serving the site.
A condition will ensure that this land will be fenced to prevent access from the road.
The site was formerly Stobswell secondary school and was later part of Dundee College and was recently demolished.
As more than 50 houses were proposed, Persimmon Homes was required to host a public exhibition of the plans, which was held but not attended by anyone.
Discovery Homes Scotland have gained permission for 12 flats on the site of former warehouse buildings at 19 Roseangle in the West End.
The report said: “One letter of objection was received in relation to the proposals raising concerns that the plans indicate the boundary wall between the site and 23 Roseangle is to be inspected and removed/repaired as necessary.
“The objector considers that the wall is a feature of the property and is in keeping with the building and the entire surrounding wall and that demolition or removal would be detrimental.”
West End Community Council also objected to the proposal. The report said: “The community council objects to the proposal on the basis that it considers that the application is contrary to the local development plan as the development consists solely of flats.”
