Police in Dundee have carried out a forensic examination as an investigation into a gang of men who robbed a group of teenage campers continues.
Chief Inspector Conrad Trickett, area commander for Dundee North, said the four 14 and 15 year olds were “quite shaken” by the incident that happened around 1am onSaturday morning.
A group of around six men, wearing camouflage clothing and black boots, burst into the boys’ tents as they camped in Baldragon Woods, near Clatto Reservoir, and demanded they hand over their mobile phones and money.
The teenagers were not injured in the incident.
Chief Inspector Trickett said: “They notified us by their parents. We found out about 7am. It was quite a shocking incident for them.”
Officers believe one of the men spoke with an English accent. Mr Trickett said they were considering all lines of inquiry.
“We have been back to the scene and carried out a forensic examination,” he said.
“We have done quite a lot of house-to-house inquiries. There were houses on the Clatto Reservoir side.
“We have some more work to do with the more isolated farms to the west. There’s some CCTV work to check the comings and goings in that area.”
He urged anyone who saw anything not to discount it but get in touch.
“We are appealing to anyone who has seen anything suspicious or vehicles on that road,” he said.
“We don’t want people to write off any suspicious activity on either side of Clatto. Feed it into us and we can make inquiries into it.”
Anyone with information should ring 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, call into the local police station or speak to any officer.
