Steven Ferrie, of Woodside Terrace, admits that on June 20 he drove a motorcyle at a dangerous and grossly excessive speed. Ferrie told police he was driving nearly twice the speed limit to show off to another motorist. Dundee Sheriff Court heard Ferrie was spotted by police officers in unmarked police car. He was travelling at the excessive speed at 5.55pm at the Forfar Road junction. Depute fiscal Fiona Bruce said: “He accelerated harshly and a speed check using markings on the road showed he was going at 97.2mph. “He told the police he was showing off to a young lad in the other vehicle,” she said. Sheriff McDonald disqualified Ferrie from driving for one year and fined him £400.
