The emergency services had been warned in advance and the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat was already in the water to rescue the man at 2.25am. A spokeswoman for the lifeboat station said: “Both inshore and offshore lifeboats were launched. “The inshore lifeboat recovered the casualty and took him to the offshore lifeboat where he was given first aid. “He didn’t need much first aid, just to be kept warm until he was taken back to the lifeboat station and handed over to the paramedics.” She added except being cold the man was alert and was speaking to his rescuers.
