An 18-year-old drink-driver reversed at speed and crashed into several cars before attempting to ram a police car to escape from officers, Dundee Sheriff Court has heard.
Police had to use CS spray to “incapacitate” Paul Blair, of Ballantrae Road, who was found to be three times the legal limit, before arresting him on Saturday.
Blair was granted bail by Sheriff McGowan but he was warned that he could face a custodial sentence.
Blair admitted that, on Saturday, in Ballantrae Road and Balmerino Road, he drove with excess alcohol in his breath (106 mic) and in Balmerino Road, he failed to stop when asked to do so by police.
He further admitted that in both streets, he reversed at speed, collided with several parked cars and attempted to ram a police car in an effort to escape.
Depute fiscal Laura Bruce said a witness heard a bang outside his home at 11pm on Saturday and looked out to see a white van swerving in the road.
He saw that his car had been damaged and contacted the police, who saw the accused attempting to park the van and asked him to stop.
At that point, Ms Bruce said, the accused reversed the van at speed and struck three vehicles.
A police car positioned itself to stop him and Blair then attempted to ram the police car, she said.
The sheriff deferred sentence for reports and granted him bail.
