Plans for £8 million upgrade of council houses in Dundee
ByThe Courier Reporter
Almost £8 million worth of upgrades to council houses in Dundee could be approved next week.
The plans, including new kitchen, bathrooms and heating systems for homes across the city brings Dundee a step closer to meeting the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.
Convener of Dundee City Council’s housing committee John Alexander said: “We have now brought more than 81% of our housing stock up to the required standard ahead of the 2015 deadline.
“This means that council house tenants in Dundee have homes that are warm, fuel efficient and meet 21st century standards, with more to come when this £7.9m programme of works goes ahead.
“The project also keeps local people in jobs with the work going to Dundee City Council’s environment department construction service and our long-term partners at McGill Electrical.”
Houses in Douglas, Brackens, Craigie, Menzieshill, Midmill, Whitfield, Broughty Ferry, Kirkton and Hilltown are included in the programme.
The housing committee meets on Monday March 10.
