Schools orchestras and bands took part in the first of their annual concerts at the Caird Hall in Dundee last night.
The events are an opportunity to showcase the musical talents of the young people of the city.
Tuesday’s concert was the chance to shine for the guitar, percussion and senior wind ensembles as well as the rock and concert bands and the junior string orchestra.
Thursday night will showcase the schools’ symphony and intermediate orchestras, the pipers, rock band, as well as the junior wind and percussion ensembles.
A number of young musicians from various central groups will also participate in a special performance of the Bell, by Mike Oldfield, as the concert’s finale on Thursday.
City council education director Michael Wood said: “As a city we have much to be proud of when it comes to the musical and artistic talents of our young people.
“The concerts are an opportunity to celebrate the talents of each and every young person participating.”
