Plumber takes on starring role as lord of the rings
ByThe Courier Reporter
A plumber came to the rescue by saving the wedding ring of a woman who has been married 60 years from the plughole.
Elizabeth Henderson from Menzieshill, who had only celebrated her diamond wedding anniversary in January, was washing her hands when her ring slipped off.
“It hit the sink and we were looking on the floor for it,” she said.
“The plumber was up doing another job on the washing machine and my husband said he had some job to get the ring back.
“He had to take the sink apart and had the top off, holding it up on his shoulder.”
Mrs Henderson married her husband David on January 2 1954 in St Mary’s, Lochee, so she was very relieved when Dyno Plumbing Scotland plumber Kevin O’Donoghue retrieved her ring.
Kevin said: “The pleasure was all mine. She thought she had lost it.
“I got there and we dismantled the sink and put it all in the shower tray.
“You do get some peculiar things on your travels,” he added.
Mrs Henderson spoke of her joy at being reunited with her ring.
“It’s just a gold band but I’m relieved to have it back,” she said. “I couldn’t thank him enough.”
